Overview

The ID&T program at the Darden College of Education & Professional Studies provides students with a solid grounding in instructional design, cognitive theory and research to meet the challenges of instructional design professionals. Our wide variety of course offerings are designed to give the graduate a strong background in both the theory and practice of the field. All students will study the following:

The ID&T Masters Plan of Work provides the flexibility to pursue individual interests. The rigorous ID&T course of study prepares graduates for a future in instructional technology in a variety of venues.

Note: The M.S.Ed. concentration in Instructional Design and Technology does not offer licensure in secondary education.

Plan of Work

The Master of Science in Education Instructional Design & Technology concentration is designed to meet the needs of professionals interested or involved in the design, development, and delivery of instruction. The courses are appropriate for a variety of venues, including preK-12, higher education, military, healthcare, and business.

In this specialization, students select 24 to 30 credits in instructional design and technology plus the problems paper or seminar research option. Working with an advisor, students select courses that compliment their backgrounds and professional goals.
