ODU’s risk management club is a chapter of , which is a “collegiate organization for students interested in insurance, risk management, and actuarial science careers”.
- Prepares students for employment in the insurance and risk management professions.
- Provides opportunities for students to gain leadership experience.
During a typical academic year (Fall and Spring semesters), ODU’s Alpha Phi chapter of GIS has the following:
- 5 to 7 student-only meetings: Discuss club business, elect officers, etc.
- 10 to 12 speaker meetings: Industry professionals talk to students about their careers, their company, and opportunities for students in their company.
- 5 to 7 student travel events: Insurance Center funds student travel to conferences, most of which are national RMI Conferences for students, which include educational sessions on emerging RMI topics and a Career Fair with large national RMI employers.
- Annual Virtual RMI Career Fair via Handshake for all ODU students, not just RMI majors and minors.
- Annual Insurance Center Founders’ Day Luncheon for industry professionals and ODU students, faculty and staff, which includes a presentation on the Insurance Center, a keynote speaker on a timely topic, and scholarship announcements for ODU RMI and PFP students.
