Our assessments are thoughtfully designed to foster the growth of our students into highly skilled engineers equipped to tackle the challenges of the modern world. Through a dynamic blend of hands-on projects, theoretical knowledge, and experiential learning, we aim to instill a deep understanding of electrical and computer engineering principles. Our dedicated faculty and state-of-the-art facilities provide a supportive and stimulating environment that empowers students to thrive and make meaningful contributions to the ever-evolving fields of electrical and computer engineering.
Electrical Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a four-year baccalaureate program in electrical engineering which is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,Ìý. The electrical engineering program provides a solid foundation in circuits, systems, electronics, electromagnetics, digital systems, and microelectronics. Elective freedom allows specialization in areas such as controls, communications, physical electronics, signal processing, wireless networks and computer networks, and computers. The curriculum has been designed so that the graduates can achieve the program educational objectives (PEOs) listed below. These objectives are consistent with the mission statements of theÌýdepartment,Ìýcollege²¹²Ô»åÌýuniversity. Achieving the PEOs is made possible by preparing the students to attain the seven student outcomes listed below.
The Electrical Engineering program seeks to prepare graduates who, after the first few years of their professional career, have:
- Established themselves as practicing engineering professionals in industry or government, or engaged in graduate study.
- Demonstrated their ability to work successfully as members of a professional team and function effectively as responsible professionals.
- Demonstrated their ability to adapt to new technology and career challenges.
(Effective Fall 2020)
Our electrical engineering graduates must attain:
-
An ability to identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
-
An ability to apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specified needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã factors.
-
An ability to communicate effectively with a range of audiences.Ìý[previously ECE SO4]
-
An ability to recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgements, which must consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã, environmental, and societal contexts.Ìý[previously ECE SO5]
-
An ability to function effectively on a team whose members together provide leadership, create a collaborative and inclusive environment, establish goals, plan tasks, and meet objectives.Ìý[previously ECE SO7]
-
An ability to develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgement to draw conclusions.Ìý[previously ECE SO3]
-
An ability to acquire and apply new knowledge as needed, using appropriate learning strategies.Ìý[previously ECE SO6]

Computer Engineering
The Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering offers a four-year baccalaureate program in computer engineering which is accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET,Ìý. The program is designed to provide a broad engineering background and a comprehensive foundation in the technical principles underlying the computer area. The technical core consists of course work from electrical engineering and computer science to address hardware and software aspects respectively. The curriculum has been designed so that the graduates can achieve the program educational objectives (PEOs) listed below. These objectives are consistent with the mission statements of theÌýdepartment,ÌýcollegeÌý²¹²Ô»åÌýuniversity.
