Dr. Tony Perez was part of a study that tested Dweck's social-cognitive model that has long served as a basis for achievement motivation research. He and coauthors, which included former student Yuanyuan Yue, studied the model in a post-secondary, science context. Drawing on data from 1,036 undergraduates, they tested relationships between growth and fixed mindsets as well as self-efficacy, achievement goals and achievement related outcomes. The findings infer that Dweck's model should be considered in a more nuanced manner. The entire article appears in the highly ranked journal .
