CMSE students Evan Coleman and Erik Jensen, together with their advisor, Professor Masha Sosonkina, received the runner-up paper award for their paper titled Enhancing Asynchronous Linear Solvers Through Randomization. The paper investigates performance improvements of parallel algorithms when different non-uniform random distributions are used to select the next components to compute in an environment without thread synchronization. They received the award at the SpringSim'19 conference held April 29 - May 2, 2019, in Tuscon, Ariz.
