The artwork by the United Kingdom's Luke Jerram will be on view Oct. 15 to 17. Plans call for it to be displayed outside the museum. It will be accompanied by a surround-sound composition created by BAFTA and Ivor Novello award-winning composer Dan Jones.

Lunar-inspired, free public events are being planned for "The Museum of the Moon" at ODU.

The installation features an inflated moon that is internally lit and detailed NASA imagery of the lunar surface. Visitors have posted more than 37,000 images on Instagram with #MuseumOfTheMoon and have been known to spend up to an hour sitting beneath the moon.
