As communities begin to recover from the disruptions of the pandemic, Monarchs can make a difference in the lives of fellow Virginians by giving to the .

Old à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã University encourages staff, faculty and friends of the University to make a donation on the Nov. 1 Virtual Day of Giving to one of the highlighted charities: the , and the .

The campaign continues to celebrate the theme "Virginia is for Givers," urging contributions to the charity drive, which is operated for and by state employees. It includes 907 trusted charities.

In 2020, 407 givers from ODU raised $63,143.

Proceeds donated to the Old à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã University Educational Foundation will support academic excellence, enhancing research and academic facilities, and enrich the undergraduate and graduate experience.

Even with Old à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã University's affordable tuition, students still face financial challenges. More than half of ODU students rely on loans to pay for their studies.

"Your generosity will enable us to continue to bring growth to our University and make a difference in the lives of the students we serve," said Karen Meier, assistant vice president for community engagement and chair of the campaign.

Donors will be eligible to win prizes through weekly drawings. The sooner employees make a pledge, the greater their chances of winning because they'll be eligible for the duration of the campaign. Prizes could include ODU-branded blankets, T-shirts, water bottles, backpacks, coolers, stadium seat cushions and more.

To donate, employees can use ePledge, a secure online way to give by credit card or payroll deduction. In addition, paper pledges are accepted by campaign coordinators.

To make an ePledge, visit the . If you wish to utilize a paper pledge, ask your coordinator for a form.

When employees give to the CVC, 100% of designations go directly to the charity or nonprofit they choose. The campaign ends Dec. 31; payroll deductions will begin in January 2022.
