Old ֱ University has selected LaToya D. Jordan, CPA, CGFM, MBA to serve as the University’s inaugural Senior Associate Vice President for Audit and Compliance effective March 1, 2025. Following the recent integration of Eastern Virginia Medical School into Old ֱ University, the institution’s complexity and portfolio have significantly changed with the establishment of Macon & Joan Brock Virginia Health Sciences at Old ֱ University. As a result, the Senior Associate Vice President for Audit and Compliance will serve as a strategic partner and leading expert in navigating the post-integration audit and compliance landscape.
In this role, Jordan will provide subject-matter expertise, sound judgment, excellent relationship and management skills as well as a strategic understanding of risk-based audit and compliance approaches in leading the University’s Audit and Compliance administrative area. Reporting administratively to the President and functionally to the Board of Visitors through the Audit, Compliance and Human Resources Committee, she will advise leaders and managers across the University on its financial integrity, operational efficiency and effectiveness and regulatory positioning. As the Senior Associate Vice President for Audit and Compliance, she will contribute to the University’s commitment to service and pursuit of excellence in the daily work and strategic direction of her team, its function, and its operations.

Jordan has worked for the Commonwealth of Virginia for almost 20 years with 18 of those years in audit oversight at the Auditor of Public Accounts (APA). For the past four years, as APA’s Deputy Auditor for Human Capital and Operations, she assisted with overseeing office operations, developing and monitoring APA’s workplan, performing technical reviews over audit reports, and serving as a Project Manager on select performance and financial statement audits, including those of higher education institutions. Additionally, she provided oversight for the continued development and execution of APA's knowledge programs, ensuring they remained engaging, relevant and compliant with industry standards. Before her role as Deputy Auditor, Jordan was an Audit Director at APA, where she led the Commonwealth’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report audit and co-led the Reporting and Standards specialty team. She also gained hands-on governmental accounting experience as an Assistant Trust Accounting Manager at the Department of the Treasury.
Outside of work, Jordan is an active member of several professional organizations, including the National State Auditors Association (NSAA), the Virginia Society of CPAs (VSCPA), and the Association of Government Accountants (AGA). She has served on various taskforces and committees, including a position on the VSCPA Board of Directors, and has mentored aspiring CPAs through the VSCPA and the National Society of Black CPAs (NASBA). She earned her Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting from Radford University and her Master of Business Administration from Liberty University. She is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM). She enjoys spending quality time with her husband and their three children.
