Hixon Student Gallery

The Hixon Student Gallery showcases work created by the students of the Art Department, Old à£à£Ö±²¥Ðã University. It is an experimental space providing student artists with an opportunity to research and explore major themes in contemporary culture.

Student exhibitions lasts two weeks and include an opening reception on a Thursday. Everyone is invited to the reception and to view the installations during the Gallery opening hours:

  • Monday-ThursdayÌý9 a.m. - 8 p.m.
  • FridayÌý9 a.m. - 5 p.m.
  • Saturday-SundayÌý1 p.m. - 5 p.m.

The Hixon Gallery is part of the Art Department buildings and is located in the James A. Hixon Art Studio Building, 1029 W 47th ST, Norfolk, VA 23508, room 2002.

ÌýArt Department Alumna Celebrates 100th Birthday with New Exhibition

We warmly congratulate our alumna Lorraine Fink on her 100 Birthday. Lorraine continues to paint, draw, and sculpt with her signature vibrant creativity and the Art Department is marking the occasion with an exhibition of her recent work. The exhibition entitledÌý'Won! Oh! Oh!' is on view in the Barry Arts Building Rotunda from August 15 till September 30, 2024, opening hours 9am-8pm M-F and 1pm-5pm Sat-Sun, on Monarch Way between 46thÌýand 47thÌýstreets. It is free and open to the public.

The reception takes place on September 12, 2024, Thursday, 6pm-8pm in the Barry Rotunda. All are invited: come and meet Lorraine and share in her joyful energy.
